A rare Balinese Axe or hatchet. The steel blade is pierced out and inlaid with silver and copper to depict a mythological god or demon figure on both faces. Very sharp single edge to one side. The lower mounts of iron and the haft is of wood. This weapon may have been ceremonial or may have been used for war, it is well made and robust enough. Dating to the 19th century.
