An unusual and rare form of Ottoman knife probably from Turkey or North Africa. The hilt made from sections of brown and cream ‘mutton-fat’ jade stone deeply engraved with designs and decorated with thick silver and gold inlay. The pommel and lower guard of steel decorated with applied silverwork. The blade of kindjal form having two shallow fullers along the blade centrem and some silver damascened decoration to the forte. With its original leather covered sheath with brass or silver sewn seam typical of Turkish manufacture. 17 inches long overall. Circa 1840. Middle east
