Description

A very nice Greek Bichak dagger from Crete, high quality example. The sheath of gilt silver with fine chiselling, a large sea monster for the chape and engraved snakes, marine scenes, and an unusual panel depicting two striped cats tigers? attacking a figure. The knife with a steel blade dark worn patina one side engraved with scrolling decoration, silver mounts throughout and two angled ivory hilt grips, with black horn around the inner edge. A slight chip to the extremity of one grip, small dent to one side of sheath,  40 cms. Circa 1800
