Fine Ottoman Shamshir sabre with wootz curved blade and silver gilt mounts

A nice example of the Turkish or Ottoman Shamshir, this piece having a hilt made from horn. The mounts throughout of high quality gilt-silver, each piece individually stamped on both sides deeply with a makers mark and a Tughra. The blade of high quality wootz with clear pattern visible. Second half 18th century.
