An original British Light Dragoon cavalry pattern flintlock pistol dating to the late 18th early 19th century. Presented in untouched condition with a wonderful old uncleaned patination throughout. The flintlock mechanism in good working order ( upper hammer jaw lacking). A small engraved ownership mark is visible on the brass buttcap, and further markings on the steel ramrod. Old wear and use marks throughout, the wooden entry point for the ramrod has suffered working damage, this area was particularly prone to damage during use, and many of these pistols show improvised brass repairs to this area, and later patterns removed the issue by using a brass thimble entry point. This loss here is old and original as seen by the thick patination over it, and should be seen as an interesting addition to its history. european
