An attractive and scarce small antique knife from Bukhara, Central Asia. The mounts of high quality silver inlaid with designs in niello. The centre part of the fabric covered sheath with a silver floral petal mounted with a turquoise semi-precious stone. The knife blade is of very fine crystalline damascus or wootz steel, the knife bolster and pommel mounts of silver-gilt, with some chiselled decoration. The grip of one piece of black horn, an old split down the top has been repaired contemporarily with resin. 19th century middle east , uzbekistan
