Very Fine Moroccan sword with silver-gilt mount inlaid with enamels and horn hilt

A very fine Moroccan sword usually known as a Nimcha or Saif. Generously decorated with gold thoughout, the hilt featuring a solid horn grip, iron guards covered with thick gold decoration. The scabbard with large gilt-silver mounts inlayed in various designs with coloured enamels, large gilt hanging rings with makers stamps. The blade long, single-edged and the upper half fabulously decorated with gold, including a date and arabic calligraphy to the forte on opposite sides. An unusually fine example, 19th century.
