Moroccan snaphaunce musket

An antique Moroccan musket 19th century. Dark wooden stock with old repairs, heavy iron miquelet flintlock mechanism roughly fitted. The barrel probably of Turkish origin showing fine engraved decoration at the breech and an inlaid oval mark probably originally inlaid with a makers mark. The barrel fixed with many long brass cappucines worked with simple designs. Possibly shortened during its lifetime for a youth, the gun retaining its original uncleaned attractive patination throughout, some old repairs and defects. african
