Gold Mounted Kukri from Nepal

A very attractive Kukri knife from Nepal, the mounts of the sheath made from gold. The upper mount locket with an unusual coat of arms not normally seen depicting in the centre a shield with what appears to be a sunrise over the Himalayan Mountains, flanked by two pennants with various motifs and a scroll of script. The lower mount chape beautifully chiselled with an animal amongst foliage, perhaps a large cat or a jackal. The kukri with a heavy steel blade in good condition, horn shaped hilt, with the bolsters covered with thick gold sheet. The reverse of the sheath has the back pouch  retaining one chakmak steel lighter-tool. Overall in good condition for age, slight wear to chape tip, old solid crack to top of grip. Circa 1900.  nepali, gurkha, indo persia,
