Two very interesting spears, probably from Thailand or China. The heads are of more typical Thai profile one having a squared base to a flaring long blade. Both with bronze lobed guard, probably originally gilt. Bronze and steel collars one retaining a inscription in red lac in Chinese? the other with faint traces of a similar marking. Tightly cord bound section. Both spear shafts are formed from the most unusual sections of wood, or bamboo almost of sculptural quality and clearly picked for their extraordinary form. Both weapons are 19th century. Come with provenance
