A 19th century small Indian shield ‘Dhal’ domed circular shape with raised rim, and four central brass bosses. The reverse with padded handcushion, and bound handgrips. The shield is black lacquered, with some surface lacquering loss, underneath can be seen earlier lacquerings in black showing this shield has had a long lifetime of usage. 13 inches diameter.
