Indian Rhino hide shield with six iron bosses

An Indian Dhal shield. Rare form with six bosses to the front, here made of iron with recessed decoration. The domed shield probably from Rhino hide as it is semi translucent. The reverse with six iron rings and remnants of leather and fabric arm straps. This shield previously belonged in the Sir Alfred Owen collection.19th century.   indo persian
