A very fine antique Indian Axe ‘Bhuj’. Sometimes known as ‘elephant axes’ or elephant ear axes, these usual Indian weapons come from the region of Kutch, Bhuj being the capital of that state currently. The blade and shaft beautifully engraved and overlaid with silver and gold designs, heavy steel blade with a curving edge. The base of the blade features a wonderful naturalistic elephant head with stunning detailing. The weapon is further enhanced by a removeable spike dagger which screws into the pommel end of the shaft. A wonderful and scarce high qulaity weapon dating to the 18th or early 19th century.
