A nice Dayak / Dyak sword Parang Ihlang or Mandau. These swords were typically used in warfare and for headtaking. The steel blade on this example has some nicely chiselled motifs. The hilt of staghorn with very fine carving and piercing, applied with some hair adornment. The scabbard of wood bound with cane, and retaining its back hide pocket with sideknife, ornamented with beadwork and coloured applied hair.
