An attractive Turkish or Kurdish dagger ‘Khanjar’ from Northern Turkey/Black Sea coast area. The hilt and sheath mounts of eastern silver decorated with fine engraved decoration allover, in floral patterns and ‘wriggle-work’ bordering. The hilt with raised circular bosses with niello inlay similar to those found on kindjal daggers from this region. The blade good quality, curved and double edged with a raised central rib and a watered pattern visible to the surface of the wootz steel. A 19th century piece in good solid condition. middle east
