Magnificent Ethiopian Abyssinian Gold and purple velvet Gasha shield with gemstones

Fine quality shield from Ethiopia/Abyssinia mounted with gilt panels finely pierced and chiselled, set against royal purple velvet and set with gemstones. The reverse with decorated red leather and multiple carrying straps/bands. One of the finest examples we have dealt with, almost certainly from the Royal Court. 19th century.   african
