An attractive old war shield from Ethiopia or Somalia. Heavy hide formed as a deep dome, with a protruding front boss. The entire front surface covered with raised tooled linear decoration. A heavy rolled rim. The interior with a large hide carrying loop and a leather strap for hanging from a shoulder. 55 cms diameter approx. Good condition, late 19th/early 20th century.
