A fine old Nuer tribal shield from the Sudan. Hide shaped with cut and incised designs from the rear and to the front with a reinforced folded ridge along its centre and to the edges. The reverse showing heavy patination and the hide grip and thongs which loop around to the front. 34 inches long overall. Dating to the 19th or early 20th century. $poa |
