Antique Dyak Jimpul Parang sword from Kalimantan Borneo

 A nice old Jimpul type sword of the Iban Dyak. The heavy curved steel blade with two fullers, and a small krowit or 'hook' near the forte, the spine and upper areas with brass inlay and punched decoration. The hilt of carved staghorn inlaid with hair, the grip bound with brass wire and the typical gum or resin ferrule below to keep the blade tightly attached. This sword has its original scabbard of dark glossy wood, the front with some carving, bound with cane and hide, retaining its original belt of woven rattan and fabric with decorative tassels. The reverse side of the sheath also retains its bark pocket for  the secondary knife sometimes known as a piso raut. Circa 1900.  27 inches overall.  dayak, dyak, dajak, headhunter borneo iban kayan
