An early Indian mace. Unsually long example, the head of steel shaped flanges with a domed tip, set on a long thin solid steel shaft. The grip end terminating with a shaped steel block, and with some iron rings/collars set around the shaft, presumably originally in conjunction with a fabric grip or similar. The terminal block shape appears on daggers and weapons of the 16th century, and it is possible that this piece dates back to that period. Uncleaned nicely patinated condition, all flanges present, some a little loose. 36.5 inches long overall. Deccan region, 18th century or earlier.
