An interesting sword from the Batak of North Sumatra. The wooden grip attractively carved as a monster with open jaws and curled snout. A lower mount of silver to the grip. Good steel blade of traditional form with small shaped features to the forte. The sheath of wood, banded with woven cane. 19th century.
