Tibetan SwordA nice very old Tibetan sword. The hilt with well chiselled, and pierced ironwork of good quality, the grip bound with silver, and set with a silver-mounted red coral. The back of the pommel with a ring to take a lanyard strap or decoration. The blade of dirk form, finely made with laimated steels to form a pattern on the blade. The sheath of iron open to the front and back, inlaid with chiselled brass,the chape set with a amssive silver setting originally holding a semi precious stone. An early piece, in original untouched condition. 23 .5 inches long approximately. Tibet, 19th century or earlier.
