Ethiopian Sword 'Shotel'

A good quality antique Ethiopian sword 'Shotel' hilted with Rhino horn. The fine steel blade chromed straight and etched along its central fuller with fine floral decoration. At the forte on each side respectively the head of the Ethiopian Emperor, and a panel of Aramaic calligraphy. Age wear overall. Dating to the 19th century. 40 inches long approximately.
