A scarce sword from the Black Sea coast Trabzon region of Northern Turkey. One of the most dramatic of all the sword shapes, this blade is stout but slender with a double curved edge, stamped with designs and inlaid with brass. The hilt with the peculiar forked horn pommel typical of these swords, the grip bound with black and green leather. The original scabbard with leather covering and centreal section woven with green hide strips. Good condition, when in scabbard the blade tip protrudes a little through the edge.
