A large good quality sword from Nepal 'kukri'. A heavy and well-made finely balanced piece designed for fighting use. The large broad steel blade of good manufacture with fullering and thickened spine, the steel of a quality suggesting a patternweld construction. All steel hilt, the grip chiselled with a scrolling linear motif, the two large teardrop shaped guards chiselled and pierced with designs with heart and other shapes. The domed steel pommel with a spiral chiselled design. A fine and scarce piece dating to the 19th century. 23 inches overall, the blade 18 inches approximately. $1695
