A good Indian dagger 'Bichwa'. Named after the scorpion due to the recurved deadly blades. Usually this would be a single blade, on this example there are two blades side by side, recurved and with slightly thickened tips. The looped grip is of brass, the front with a wide panel decorated with scrolling foliage, the top with two bud finials. The reverse shows the grip, a single bar which is held in the fist. This bichwa retains its original fabric lining which is a fairly rare survival. This dagger dates to the 19th century and comes from Kutch on the central-west coast of India. 12.5 inches overall, a very nice example.
