An interesting sword from South India 'Tulwar'. The steel hilt of early form, robustly sculpted and with a decorated knuckleguard having a monster head terminal. The blade of gently curving profile with a long yelman to the back edge, the forte chiselled with an inscription in Kannada script, usually associated with pieces from the Mysore Armoury. Age wear and minor nicks to the blade edge. South India, 18th century or earlier.
