An unusual Turkish sword 'Yataghan'. The hilt and sheath of a chiselled silver-alloy or white metal, the grips with fine chiselled decoration to the ears, the central section of gilt-brass, gilt bolsters. Wonderful steel blade retaining long panels of gold and silver damascening with arabic inscriptions in near perfect condition. The scabbard with chiselling and ending with the traditional monsters head finial. 32 inches approximately. Ottoman Empire, 19th century.
