An early sword from India 'Khanda'. Nice old example, the hilt of solid steel with a thick hand and knuckleguard, the teardrop shaped dished pommel with a pierced mount and long curved stalk finial. Mounted with an early blade of high quality flexible wootz 'damascus' steel. The long centre mounts with chiselled decoration( age worn). The wootz patterning to the blade is only slightly visible as the sword is offered uncleaned and with a rich dark patina. Good condition, some areas of age pitting to the blade, small hole to the pommel side. Dating to the 18th century or earlier. $price on request |
