Kris from Madura or Borneo

A fine kris of Madurese style from Banjarmassin in southern Kalimantan. The hilt of gilt-brass or copper applied with filigree and set with multiple small diamonds (intan) and rubies. Silver ferrule, fine steel blade with srongly defined pamor. Wonderful sheath of silver, finely engraved with decoration to the upper section, with a small strap clip chiselled with facial features. Some age wear overall and loss of stones, a most attractive complete scarce example, Madura/Borneo 18th/early 19th century.
