German / European 'SchwedenDegen' or 'Walloon' SwordA good all original European sword traditionally known as a 'SchwedenDegen' sometimes known to collectors as a 'Walloon' sword. The steel basket hilt comprised of bars with trumpet shaped features, the guard with pierced plates and with a thumbring to the inside. Bun shaped pommel and the grip bound with wire featuring 'turks head ' binding to each end. The blade with a central fuller showing a chiselled inscription to both sides ' IN DOMINI' and the wolf mark of the Passau makers. These sword are known in Denmark as being used against the Swedes in the Baltic wars. Good overall condition, age wear. Dating to the mid 17th century, Denmark or Northern Germany.
