An early 18th century smallsword proably English or French. The hilt of russet-browned steel encrusted with gold decoration. The guard and other parts chiselled with mythical figures in the Rococco style. The grip bound with silver and with turkshead bindings at either end. The blade of colimarche type having a brass inlaid makers mark to the forte. Good overall condition with age wear. 34 inches long. Circa 1720. $1495 |
