An unusual and very large Nepalese sword 'kukri'. Heavy but very well-balanced fighting piece, the long steel blade very well made with fullering and subtle concave champering to the blade faces, areas show signs of a complex watered pattern. The hilt with a russet-browned nicely chiselled grip, two thick bronze disc guards and bronze bolsters with a domed pommel finial. Complete with its original leather sheath retaining one side knife. Age wear to sheath. Overall length 25 inches approximately, the blade 19 inches approximately. Nepal/North India 19th century. $1695 |
