A scarce early dagger from the Deccan, usually known as a 'Chillanum'. The hilt with unusual chiselled lunette-shaped brass pommel sections. The grip with ringed ball centre section with curving lower guard. The blade forte retaining much silver koftgari decoration, as well as other silver work elsewhere on the hilt. Good strong recurved blade, with fullered central section. A good quality well-weighted example. 15 inches. 17th century. Deccan, India.
