A good sword from Thailand or Burma 'Dha'. Long very well made steel blade with unusual chiselled designs. The scabbard painted red and banded with woven cane, and retaining its woven red cotton sash. The hilt bound with decoratively woven black cane. The blade on this sword has an unusually bold lamellar colour divide along its length even before any etching, a sign of quality where the edge has been made with a much harder steel joined to a resilient steel body. A very striking and good quality weapon dating to the late 19th/early 20th century.
