A good quality dagger from South India or Ceylon. Constructed in the european taste, the hilt of silver alloy or german silver finely engraved with scrolling designs. The upper pommel featuring an inset small folding knife, another matching inset having lost its occupant. The guard with scrolling quillons and with a hole and recess to accommodate a sheath clip. The blade of fine damascus steel, with crisply shaped clipped and reinforced tip. 13 .5 inches approx. Good condition, minor edge wear. 19th century.
