A very fine Indian sword 'Zafar Takieh'. Literally “the cushion of victory.” The hilt thickly damascneed with designs in silver and gold, the terminal of the rest with dragons heads. The blade of fine quality, likely wootz steel, the back edge sharpened, and with an armoury numbered mark to the forte. Retaining its original leather scabbard. It was carried by Indian princes or nobles when seated on the masnad (cushion) giving guidance and council. A stunning example in excellent condition. Dating to the 18th or early 19th century.
