A fine quality Indo-Persian sword with an interesting varient on the backet hilt. Very large and good quality curved shamshir blade, heavy and wide, with a bold 'damascus' wootz watered pattern for its length. The hilt in wonderful condition decorated allover with gold scrolling tendrils. A beautiful and rare sword, excellent condition, the blade with some minor edge wear. Complete with its scabbard covered with red leather and a steel chape. Afghanistan/North India early 19th century. 43 inches long overall in scabbard.
