A rare set of mail trousers from North India. 'Ganga-Jamni' mail of butted steel links with decorative brass stripes, some additional clusters of copper links to the skirt area. The leggings are trousers at the lower ends of the legs, above which they are open on the inside, at the top the mail is attached to a fabric sash. The tie is of colored fabric and displays metal thread and tassel decoration to its ends. All original features, in excellent condition, minor loss of links. Beautiful old rich patina. A wonderful scarce addition for the collector seeking to complete a mail armour set. North India/Persia, 18th/19th century. sold |
